Connecticut State Open (Top 5 Advance)
When: Feb. 27–28
Where: Hillhouse High School, New Haven (CT)
Team Outlook
Xavier enters the weekend as the clear favorite. The Falcons bring 10 wrestlers to the State Open after a dominant Class L finish and have the depth to score big across multiple weights. Waterford brings nine, but the Lancers will need more than one finalist-level run to keep pace with the top teams over two days. Ridgefield is the team with real upset potential, bringing eight qualifiers and multiple legitimate title threats. Danbury, Fairfield Warde, and Newtown are also in the mix and all have a path to the podium if the right weights break their way.
Schwartz’s Predicted Top Five
(3) Xavier – 190
(6) Ridgefield – 144
Fairfield Warde – 126
(10) Newtown – 124
Ledyard – 105

Massachusetts All-States (Top 7 Advance)
When: March 1–2
Where: MassMutual Center, Springfield (MA)
Team Outlook
Massachusetts is the deepest state in the region, and this year the storyline is simple: Central Catholic enters with separation. The Red Raiders bring 10 qualifiers to All-States, and in Massachusetts, bringing six can be enough to contend for a title. Shawsheen Tech brings seven and they have at least three guys who will contend for a title. St. John’s Prep brings four but has enough quality to make that number matter. Milford is also worth watching in the team race with six qualifiers and a path to a top-three finish if the bracket breaks well.

(5) Shawsheen Tech – 127

Team Outlook
Another year in New Hampshire, and Timberlane again enters as the team to beat. The Owls bring 12 wrestlers to the state tournament as they chase their 33rd state title. Concord and Salem look like the main threats, with Keene also in the mix. With only the top three advancing, the placement rounds will matter just as much as the finals.

Rhode Island (Top 3 Advance)
When: February 28-29
Where: Providence Career & Technical Academy, Providence (RI)
Team Outlook
With the new qualification process, the top 10 from the Red and Green qualifier tournaments advance to states, and the team race has a clear front-runner. Ponaganset looks like the team to beat, and even with injuries, the Chieftains have the firepower to win multiple individual titles. Bishop Hendricken and Scituate are the other major programs in the mix, and this could be Hendricken’s best opportunity to close the gap. Mt. Hope is the true wild card, with enough depth and star power to make a run at the top three. If the bracket breaks the right way, this tournament could get tight quickly behind first place.

Vermont (Top 3 Advance)
When: February 27–28
Where: Barre City Auditorium, Barre (VT)
Team Outlook
Mt. Anthony looks to add to its national record of 38 consecutive state titles. However, there is a legitimate challenger this year in Spaulding. The Crimson Tide had a strong out-of-state schedule and the team boasts numerous ranked wrestlers, but the biggest issue is being down a heavyweight due to injury. Colchester could be an outside challenger with one of the state’s most dynamic duos, and Otter Valley and Middlebury can also be in the mix. This tournament has a clear favorite, but there are enough pieces behind it to keep the team race interesting.
Schwartz’s Predicted Top Five
Mt. Anthony – 176
Spaulding – 168
Colchester – 132
Middlebury – 130
Otter Valley – 117
