Last year’s prep scene in New England was something else and it just got even more
locked and loaded after the offseason! This NEPSWA rankings update mostly covers
some BIG transfers–both within the region and some coming from other parts of the
country!

Incoming freshman No. 1 Dawson McGrath (Greens Farms Academy, CT) is a 2025 Youth New England Champion at this weight. Gray beat Chiang 16-10 in the quarterfinals of last year’s tournament.

2025 New England Champion Isaac Novod (Belmont Hill, MA) made the National Finals last

(Northfield Mt. Hermon, MA) comes in as another significant transfer for the Hogs. Goes placed third at Public New Englands last season and followed it up by placing third at NHSCA Nationals as well.
No. 3 Jaxsen Bailey (Greens Farms Academy, CT) is also a big threat. Bailey, a sophomore (who may rise in weight) placed 7th in freestyle and 4th in Greco-Roman in Fargo’s 16U 126lb division. No. 2 Matthew Mercado (New York Military Academy, NY) is a new transfer from Newburgh High School in New York. And No. 3 Luke Galipeau (Northfield Mt. No. 1 Jack Dragoumanos (Belmont Hill, MA) is the defending champion. He won Prep New
Englands at 126lbs and then placed sixth at Prep Nationals. No. 2 Lance Bordeleau (Northfield Mt. Hermon, MA) is a strong contender. Transferring from Pinkerton Academy in New Hampshire, Bordeleau was a Public School New England Runner-Up at 132lbs and an NHSCA All-American as well.
No. 3 Brighton Karvoski is no longer in the lightweights. The rising junior looks to improve on his second-place finish (at 113lbs) at Prep New Englands from last season. This weight class is chock full of talent, though. Take No. 4 Shea Morris (New York MIlitary Academy, NY) who was wrestling up several weight classes last year when he came in second at Prep New Englands at 157lbs. It’ll be interesting to see how he adjusts in a newly loaded Knights lineup. And No. 5 Charlie Lussier (St. Paul’s, NH) is another runner-up finisher having placed second last season at 138lbs.

The top two here faced off last year in the semi-finals and don’t be surprised if we get that
matchup again this year. No. 1 Colby Houle (Northfield Mt. Hermon, MA) defeated No. 2
Andrew McCarthy (New York Military Academy, NY) 10-1 last season and went on to place
second at Prep New Englands. Both would go on to be Prep All-Americans with Houle taking
fourth and McCarthy taking seventh.
No. 3 Jacob Jones (Greens Farms Academy, CT) is a rising sophomore who is bound to make
some noise in his high school career. Getting past most wrestlers in this weight class would be tough for any regular sophomore, but this isn’t a regular sophomore.

Jacobson is poised to shake up the New England scene.

TEAM
Maybe, just maybe, this is setting up to be the best prep season in recent memory for New
England. For a brief period over the summer, it sure seemed that Northfield Mt. Hermon (MA)
and New York Military Academy (NY) were closing the gap with Greens Farms Academy (CT)
thanks to the announcements of big transfers. GFA Head Coach Jack Conroy, however, was
just keeping his cards close to his chest.
The Dragons of GFA have 13 wrestlers ranked. The NMH Hogs and NYMA Knights follow right
after with 12, and with how early these rankings are out, who knows what the potential team
race will look like when the season is actually in play.
