Time to hit the beach. Virginia Beach, that is. The culmination of the season is here with the prestigious NHSCA High School Nationals.
This year, 520 wrestlers from New England are competing in the event and 61 wrestlers have enough credentials to earn themselves a seed next to their name.

GIRLS
Maddie Ripley (Oceanside, ME) earns the 5 seed at 107lbs. She placed second in this tournament last year.Â
Four New Englanders find themselves in the top six at 114lbs. No. 2 seed Sara McLaughlin (Choate Rosemary Hall, CT) earned the bronze medal last year and looks to build on that. No. 4 seed Brooke Weafer (Bristol Plymouth, MA), No. 5 seed Jazmine Whitfield (Stamford, CT), and No. 6 seed Sybella Landrie (Berlin, CT) round out the list.

At 120lbs., returning NHSCA Champion Calli Gilchrist (Choate Rosemary Hall, CT) earns the No. 1 seed with hopes to repeat as champion. Fellow Connecticut wrestler Natalia Accorsi (Tabor Academy, MA) makes the top eight as the No. 7 seed.
New England has another strong showing at 126lbs with two returning All-Americans and four girls total in the top eight. New England Champ Hoshena Gemme (Old Lyme, CT) earned the three spot, while the New England third-place finisher Rylee Donohue (Norwalk, CT) is No. 4. Hannah Bryson (Wilmington, MA) is the No. 5 seed, and Gloucester, MA’s Morgan Pennempeide is No. 7.Â
At 132lbs., Jillian Glaski (Mt. Anthony Union, VT), who placed second at New Englands this year, enters as the 7 seed
Ashland, MA’s Nora Quitt is the No. 5 seed in the 138lbs bracket. Quitt, placed 1st at New Englands and is the No. 5 P4P wrestler in the region.
Kelly Aspras (Foran, CT) is the No. 2 seed at 145lbs. Aspras won a New England title earlier this year and placed 6th at the 2023 NHSCA NationalsÂ
Two wrestlers find themselves seeded at 165lbs. New England Champion Meghan Wiebe (Sharon, MA) is the No. 2 seed while the runner-up Emma Leonido (Hanover, MA) gets the No. 9 seed.
At 185lbs., Kayli Morris (Platt, CT) earns the No. 5 seed after winning a New England title.
Samantha Rabkin (Sharon, MA) comes in as the No. 6 seed at 235lbs. She placed second at New England's last month
BOYS
Freshmen
Starting off with the smallest of the youngest, New England champion Cole Lemovitz (Ponaganset, RI) is the No. 7 seed at 106 and New England 4th-place finisher and Fargo Greco All-American Chase Kastner (Southington, CT) is seeded 10th.
Four Connecticut freshmen made Matscout’s Class of 2027 Top 100 and all four will be at Virginia Beach. The first at 113lbs.—No. 2 seed Brighton Karvoski (Greens Farms Academy, CT). Brighton is a Prep New England runner-up, Prep All-American, and No. 40 on the current P4P ranking in New England. Public school runner-up Isaiah McDaniel (Middletown, CT) comes in as the No. 14 seed and looks to cause a ruckus in his bracket.
The next seeded New England wrestler comes in at 126lbs.: No 8 Apollo Bellini (Ponaganset, RI). Bellini placed 5th at 113 at New Englands and is ranked seventh in The Schwartz Report’s Class of 2027 Top 30.
Top 40 freshmen in the country. No. 1 Colby Houle (Northfield Mt. Hermon, MA) was the youngest on the 132 national prep podium and looks to be on top of the NHSCA freshman Podium.
Four regional wrestlers are seeded at 138lbs. No. 2 Carnell Davis (Ponaganset, RI) placed second at New Englands and is the second ranked wrestler in The Schwartz Report’s Class of 2027. Myles Burroughs (Northfield Mt. Hermon, MA) sits at No. 6, Isaiah Isham (Essex, VT) at No. 8 seed, and Alberico Mancini (Cranston West, RI) at No. 9.
At 152lbs we have the third of the three Matscout’s Top 100 freshmen: Jake Maddox (Newtown, CT). Maddox was the bronze medalist at New Englands and is the No. 2 seed heading into this weekend. Behind him at No. 5 is another CT wrestler, Vincent Rivera (Xavier, CT).
Rhys Dewar (Central Catholic, MA) is the No. 3 seed at 160lbs. Dewar, who was not able to make it through a VERY TOUGH MIAA D1N Sectional this year, has many quality wins against upperclassmen in the region and that earned him the No. 22 rank in The Schwartz Report’s class of 2027. Chase Catalano (Old Lyme, CT) is the No. 7 seed. Catalano was a CT Runner-up and The Schwartz Report ranks him at No. 19.
The 170lb bracket includes one seeded New Englander: No. 8 seed Dante Richardson (Cranston West, RI).
At 195lbs., No. 1 seed Max Konopka (Simsbury, CT)— the defending 15U U.S. Open Champion and winner at last month’s New Englands—is the last participating entry from Matscout’s Top 100 freshman He is the No. 16 P4P ranked wrestler across all of New England.
No. 4 at 220 lbs., Vincent McAteer (East Greenwich, RI) is the last seeded freshman from New England.
Sophomores
Robby Newton (Scituate, RI) leads the pack at 106lbs. The New England third-place finisher is the No. 5 seed in the tournament.
Moving up a weight at 113lbs, the 2023 New England Champion Peter Rincan (Billerica, MA) enters as the 10 seed and is ranked fourth in The Schwartz Report Class of 2026
Pan-Am Silver medalist Yandel Morales (Andover, MA) as the No. 4 seed in the 120lb. bracket. Morales came in second at 126lbs. at New Englands and is ranked 23rd overall in the region.
Another Pan-Am medalist, Braylon Gonzalez (Xavier, CT) is the No. 10 seed at 126 lbs. Gonzalez is ranked 9th in the Class of 2026
Look for 138lb. 6th-place New Englands finisher Shea Morris (Haverhill, MA) at No. 9 at 132lbs.Â
Colby Vital (Ponaganset, RI) comes in at No. 11 at 138 lbs. He placed 6th at New Englands and is ranked seventh in the TSR Class of 2026.
Evan Schibi (Gilbert/Torrington, CT) is seeded 10th at 145. Schibi placed 5th at New Englands and is ranked 14th in the TSR Class of 2026
The next seeded sophomore New Englander is at 220lbs. Matt Harrold (Haverhill, MA), a 2023 New England finalist and 2024 New England 6th place finisher ranked 5th in the class of 2026 and 47th in all of New England, earns himself a 3 seed.
Ohio native James Bechter (Northfield Mt. Hermon, MA) gets the No. 2 seed and will be wrestling representing his home state but is ranked 7th overall in the New England Top 50. 2023 NHSCA All-American Kaz Morosetti (North Kingstown, RI) is the last seeded sophomore. Morosetti placed 6th at New Englands and is ranked 18th in the sophomore class.
Juniors
The first seeded wrestlers come in at 120lbs. 2024 New England Champion Jared Hood (Ponaganset, RI) has a 5 seed. He is ranked 5th in The Schwartz Report Class of 2025, and 25th overall in New England. Massachusetts’s Musa Tamaradze is the No. 8 seed.
Once again, Sidney Tildsey (Shawsheen Tech, MA) drops from his season weight of 138 to 126 for Nationals. The 126lb. No. 4 seed made the finals of last year’s event before coming up short and looks to bounce back from a third-place New England finish.
The next time we meet a seeded junior from New England it’s at 160lbs. Brazil Pan-Am team member Lucas Alvan (Ludlow, MA) comes in as the 10 seed. Alvan finished the season fourth at 165 and is ranked 18th in the TSR class of 2025.
David Pento Jr. (Londonderry, NH) is the No. 7 seed at 170lbs. He placed fourth at New Englands and he is looking to make the podium on the national stage.
Connecticut’s Lincoln Carlson (East Lyme Norwich Tech0 is the 4 seed at 182lbs. He placed 4th at 175lbs at New Englands and is ranked 8th in the class of 2025.
2024 New England runner-up Elijah Josey (Portsmouth, NH) sits at the No. 7 seed at 195 lbs. Josey is the No. 9 ranked wrestler in the class of 2025.
Two strong contenders from New England find themselves seeded in the top five at 220 lbs. Charles Weidman (Xavier, CT), who won the 2024 New England championship at 215lbs and is the No. 4 ranked wrestler in the class of 2025—and 31st overall in New England, comes in as the No. 1 seed. Malachi Fowler (Windham, CT), who placed fourth at New Englands, is No. 5.
Defending National Champion Thomas Brown (Chelmsford, CT) claims the No. 1 seed at 285lbs. It’s not much of a surprise as he’s ranked No. 1 at 285lbs, No. 1 in the class of 2025, and No. 4 in all of New England.
Seniors
With no 106lbs weight class for seniors, we start at 113lbs and No. 1 seed and defending National Champion Raekwon Shabazz (Xavier, CT). He is a 2x New England champion and is ranked 15th overall in New England. New England 4th-place finisher Domenic Gangi (Methuen, MA) comes in as the 6 seed.Â
Johnson & Wales commit Peyton Ellis (Coventry, RI) claims the 1 seed at 126lbs . A 2x New England champion. Ellis is the No. 8 ranked wrestler in all of New England.
Two New England wrestlers coming back from injuries are seeded at 138. No. 11 seed Drew McGourty (Braintree, MA) was ranked within the top two of the 150s before being declared officially out for the season. Nevertheless, he is back for NHSCAs. No. 17 seed Anthony Basile (Xavier, CT) is a 2x CT State runner-up who sadly got injured in this year’s finals and was unable to compete at New Englands.
ANOTHER 1 seed! At 145lbs it is no other than defending National champion, Cornell commit, Gabe Bouyssou (Scituate, RI). What more can be said about Mr. Bouyssou that hasn't been written on this site already?
Making it five seeded wrestlers from Xavier High School—the New England team runners-up, Kyle Levesque is No. 10 at 152lbs. Levesque placed third at New Englands at 144lbs and is ranked 17th in the public school class of 2024.
Brent Nicolosi (Haverhill, MA), a No. 3 seed, is a championship contender at 160lbs. He is a 2x All-American and is the 20th ranked P4P wrestler in the region of New England.
What… Another No. 1 seed? Is this New England or Pennsylvania? Columbia University commit Spencer Fine (Bishop Hendricken, RI) takes it at 182 lbs. Fine, placed third at last year’s NHSCA tournament and is the No. 17 P4P wrestler in New England.
At 220lbs Jayden Toppan (Gloucester, MA) is the 4 seed. Toppan was a 2023 New England placer but sadly got hurt right before the post season this year. He looks to make his mark on the national stage since he couldn’t on the regional. No. 7 seed Jerameel Vasquez (Hampden Charter East) finished 5th at 215lbs and is ranked 20th in the class of 2024.
The last ranked wrestler, Maine’s Griffin Moreau (Windham/Westbrook/GNG, ME) earns the 6 seed at 285lbs. Moreau placed 4th at the New England tournament.
